“High-performing teams don’t happen by chance. They are built with precision.” – Meta Team.
High performance teams
Meta Team’s deep research across thousands of teams has proven that truly high-performing teams don’t just focus on skills, leadership, or individual strengths, they master both the Inner Game and the Outer Game.
The Inner Game defines how a team works together and includes the habits of:
Building Trust
Resilience
Shared Purpose
Focus
The Outer Game shapes how a team delivers impact and includes the habits of:
Adapting to Change
Influencing Stakeholders
Acting with Agility
Executing with Discipline
While most team development models only focus on one of these two critical dimensions, the Meta Team’s approach develops both games simultaneously and has been proven to unlock double-digit improvements in productivity, execution speed, collaboration, and business impact.

The Meta process
We use Meta Team‘s tools to unlock performance breakthroughs by strengthening a team’s Inner Game – team dynamics & mindset – and their Outer Game – execution & business impact.
The process starts with the team completing Meta Team’s Team Performance Profiler, a diagnostic questionnaire that helps us understand how a team is currently performing against each of the Inner and Outer game habits.
The completion of the diagnostic helps us identify each team’s hidden blockers, after which Meta Team’s algorithm prescribes a sequence of Team Workouts (fast team workshops) that accelerate performance gains.
Once the sequence of Workouts has been identified, we schedule and deliver the Workouts, usually on a monthly basis.
After all of the workouts have been delivered, the team complete the Team Performance Profiler once more, ensuring a focus on performance improvement and allowing the team to identified the benefits they have achieved.
The Meta impact
The Meta Teams programme helps teams:
- Make faster, more confident decisions – In general high-performing teams decide 37% faster than weaker teams, cutting delays and accelerating action.
- Increase agility – Teams that adapt quickly are 38% more efficient, reducing wasted time and improving responsiveness.
- Strengthen accountability – With 36% better peer accountability, strong teams rely less on leadership oversight, reducing management overhead.
- Maximise team strengths – The best teams leverage individual strengths 35% more effectively, boosting productivity without increasing headcount.
Stats are based on Meta Team’s data on over 1000 teams. A typical programme needs 12 hours of contact time with each team over 6 months to build momentum and achieve performance breakthroughs.
What’s included?
Meta Team development programmes are comprehensive and cost-effective solutions, developed over more than a decade with 20,000 data points, that provide a solid base for developing your team.
Each high level programme is anchored on a starting diagnostic, a series of team Workouts and a closing team diagnostic to capture benefits.
A typical programme inclides these steps:
- A Team Launch session to introduce and explain the programme.
- Delivery of the opening Team Performance Profiler diagnostic, to capture how the team is doing in relation to each of the 8 habits.
- A team leader debrief to explore the Team Performance Profiler results.
- A schedule of six Team Development Workouts to help the team grow and develop.
- Delivery of the closing Team Performance Profiler diagnostic, to capture the benefits that the team has achieved over the course of the programme.
